Temporary closure of The Rubens House
Experience twice as much Rubens after the renovation.
from 9 January 2023
The Rubens House is temporarily closed. After undergoing a thorough, sustainable renovation, the historic artist's home will be prepared for the future in the coming years. To the side of Rubens's historic home, garden and studio, a brand new reception building by the architecture firm Robbrecht en Daem Architecten is gradually taking shape. This new entrance will form the starting point of a reimagined, accessible visitor route through the renovated museum and the garden. The new baroque garden will also feature plants from Rubens's time in the colours of today. After the renovation, the past and the renewed parts of the museum will form a coherent whole. Exactly as Rubens himself would have created it, had he been alive today.
